Description

About Winning Mark

Winning Mark is a political consulting and media firm specializing in cutting-edge media strategies for progressive campaigns. We are based in Portland, Oregon, and our work is national, regional and local in scope. We develop creative, data-driven media for a diverse set of causes, including public lands, river protection, forest policy, and other Western conservation issues; public information and advocacy on revenue, labor, education, healthcare, climate change; and a variety of candidates and ballot measures. We have extensive experience working with diverse partners and clients to develop culturally relevant digital and print advertising campaigns tailored for diverse, frontline communities.

Position Summary

The Print Manager role requires an individual with first-hand experience with print production and a passion for project management and delivering the best possible product. The Print Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of print-based projects across Winning Mark’s clients, including direct mail, field, OOH such as billboards, and other print collateral. They will work directly with WM’s Chief Strategist to develop and execute direct mail plans to support clients’ political and advocacy goals. The Print Manager will specifically:

  • Proactively manage and independently own multiple, simultaneous projects of varying sizes, including tracking project deliverables, dates, deadlines, and budgets, and managing ever-changing project scopes and schedules.

  • Develop and coordinate production schedules between clients, designers, printers, and mailhouses.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and vendors as well as communicate directly with clients and internal team members to ensure the goals of the campaign are met.

  • Create and execute direct mail plans, including building and maintaining pricing and budgets throughout the lifecycle of the project.

  • Collaborate and strategize about mail targets, analyze voter data, and create multi-layered mailing lists in an online voter file, based on targeting goals, with the Chief Strategist and trusted partners.

  • Copy edit and proofread print pieces with an extremely fine-tooth comb.

  • Use digital tools, including Google Workspace, NGP VAN and other voter databases, EveryAction, Adobe Suite, and Asana.

  • Support sales and marketing efforts, as well as identify and develop new print-related opportunities for clients.

  • Develop and improve Print project management systems and workflows.

  • Print team oversight: for the general election, potentially hire and manage a team of 1–2 coordinators.

  • Report to the Head of Operations.

Requirements

Required Skills

The person who will be successful in this position is someone capable of producing high-quality work in a fast-paced, complex, and project-based environment. Because of this, we are seeking an individual with a strong drive and proactive work ethic as well as the following:

  • A passion for progressive change.

  • 2–4 years of experience managing projects independently.

  • At least 1 year of print production experience. Direct mail experience is especially desired but not required.

  • At least 1 year of team management experience.

  • An eagle eye for grammar and details.

  • A stickler for sticking to processes.

  • Experience communicating directly with clients and vendors and managing expectations.

  • Experience building and maintaining budgets.

  • Please include the word "Coco" in your cover letter.
  • Superior time-management and multi-tasking skills, and is deadline-driven.

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

  • Outstanding critical-thinking skills, and is a quick learner.

  • Works well in a collaborative setting.

  • Ability to problem-solve, but is not afraid of asking questions or following up to keep projects moving.

  • Works well under pressure, and has a strong desire to do outstanding work and exceed expectations.

  • Available during occasional irregular hours (evenings and weekends).

We're eager to meet people who believe in our mission and can contribute to our team in a variety of ways — not just candidates who check all the boxes. Even if you don't feel that you meet 100% of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply.
