Description
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University invites applications for a tenure-track strategic faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank in Pharmaceutics. We seek an internationally recognized scientist with a distinguished record of innovation, sustained extramural funding, and leadership in pharmaceutical sciences research.
This recruitment represents a major institutional investment in expanding our research enterprise. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing a world-class program that advances pharmaceutical sciences through interdisciplinary collaboration, translational research, and scientific discovery.
Areas of Strategic Interest
Applications are requested from investigators whose research areas are as follows:
Immunotherapy and development of immunotherapy platforms
RNA therapeutics, gene delivery, and genome engineering technologies
Biologics, peptides, and complex drug products
Cancer therapeutics and immuno-engineering
Requirements
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Maintain an internationally recognized, externally funded research program.
Secure major federal and foundation research funding.
Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the University and with external partners.
Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career investigators.
Contribute to graduate and professional education.
Participate in service activities within and outside the university as appropriate to rank.
Provide leadership that enhances the national and international visibility of the department.
Teach PharmD and PhD students
Individuals with experience leading multi-investigator grants, research centers, program projects, translational research initiatives, or industry partnerships are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Qualifications for appointment as an Associate or Full Professor.
An internationally recognized research program with sustained scholarly impact.
A demonstrated record of securing significant competitive extramural funding as Principal Investigator, preferably from federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, or equivalent organizations.
Evidence of successful leadership of multidisciplinary research teams and mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.
A commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership.
