Description
Work involves responsibility for formulating, developing plans for, and fostering satisfaction of the library’s strategic directions through its public service units and branches. Work includes supervising the heads of the three regional areas and evaluating the performance of branch libraries in achieving the goals and objectives of the Library System. Responsible for guiding and supervising library community engagement, public services, collection strategies, and circulation services to fulfill the library’s strategic plan. Work also includes contributing to the development of capital and operating budget requests, and physical plant planning and supervision. These responsibilities involve important obligations in representing the System before the board of Trustees, funding agencies, and community groups.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:Possession of a master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited program; seven (7) years’ experience in professional/management in planning and conducting public library services and programs; and five (5) years of supervisory responsibility.
Necessary Special Requirement: Ability to meet re-certification requirements by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years.
