Description
The Senior Proposal Writer is responsible for timely completion and strategic development of high-quality, competitive proposal content. This individual serves as a senior member of the proposal team and partners cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product management, and implementation throughout the proposal content writing process. The Senior Proposal Writer plays a critical role in shaping a prospect’s expectations of Tyler’s solutions through differentiated messaging, market-aligned positioning, and deep institutional knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Develops compelling, market-informed proposal narratives that synthesize existing content, new SME inputs, and product positioning into persuasive, customer-focused responses
- Owns development of complex and high-visibility RFx sections from strategy and outline creation through final review
- Applies deep product, industry, and institutional knowledge to position Tyler solutions effectively against competitor offerings and evolving market trends
- Reviews, edits, and proofreads proposal content and related materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, compliance, and alignment with strategic messaging
- Mentors and trains proposal writers and cross-functional contributors on proposal best practices, content standards, and effective positioning techniques
- Manages multiple complex projects simultaneously, maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail
- Leverages proposal team tools, templates, and knowledge repositories to drive efficiency, accuracy, and content standardization
- Contributes to the evolution of writing processes, tools, and best practices to improve quality, scalability, and team performance
- Leads internal writing-focused trainings and workshops
- Owns the evolution and maintenance of Tyler’s proposal style guidelines
Qualifications
- BS/BA in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a proposal writing role, with demonstrated success writing client-focused, persuasive proposal content
- Strong professional and persuasive written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, customer-focused messaging
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment (both independently and as a team player)
- Exceptional attention to detail, follow-up, and quality control standards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities simultaneously
- Experience in public sector software industry or persuasive writing
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, in addition to Adobe
- Advanced skills in Qvidian architecture and content management
Tyler Technologies has offices throughout the United States. This role may offer the option for hybrid or fully remote work depending on the candidate's location.
